Golden Shepherd Imports Ltd. was formed in 1999 and became a limited company in 2000. G.S.I. is the sole Canadian distributor of John Reed original fantasy creations. It is a home run company situated in Parksville, a small beach community on the east coast of Vancouver Island off the coast of British Columbia, Canada.

GSI also runs several small retail operations on a seasonal basis. "The Magic Mushroom" store is located at the Coombs Emporium in Coombs, B.C. and is open during the summer months of July and August. During the Christmas season, GSI operates several temporary retail kiosks in local malls.

There are five full time members of the GSI team. Michael Rantis is the president and warehouseman. Val Rantis is the secretary/treasurer and store clerk. Chris McCarthy is the web builder, warehouseman and future Jeopardy competitor. The two most cherished members of the team are responsible for the name "Golden Shepherd". "Woody" is a 4 year old Golden Retriever and "Vato" is an elderly German Shepherd.
